AURELIO TORRES / New Works
AURELIO TORRES / New Works
August 5 – August 26 2013
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay (1962), Aurelio Torres is a classically trained painter who distills the aesthetic laws of Antiguity – of proportion dictated by the Golden Section – as well as modern principles of painting directly from a source, whether it is a natural land – or seascape, or a posed model.

HI WATER, new work by Alice Denison
HI WATER, new work by Alice Denison
July 6 – July 28 2013
In response to recent storms, Denison’s subject is water: incoming, rough or slack seas. Floating each image against a white ground, Denison disembodies the water. From a distance, the work reads as a simple shape; closer, abstraction gives way to seascape — often with objects floating or sinking. All work is in oil on wood boards.
