Marilyn grew up in Port Washingotn, Long Island and summered in Greenport, L.I. She studied art at New Paltz State University of New York in the 1960s and received a B.F.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1967. She worked at the Phoebe A. Hearst Learning Center in San Francisco in 1968, analyzing children’s drawings for Rhoda Kellogg’s book, The Patterns of Children’s Drawings.
In 1969, Marilyn worked at the Ira Spanierman Gallery in New York City, where she was introduced to the process and intricacies of antique painting restoration with Professor Renzo Baldacinni. He brought her to Florence, Italy and the Uffizi Gallery where she worked with Professor V. Granchi, who was the chief restorer of the Chimabue, and other works of art damaged from the flood of the River Arno.
Continuing always to work on her own creations, she has exhibited and won awards in Italy and Long Island throughout her career.
An avid swimmer, Marilyn participated in the Great Swim from Bug Light to Shelter Island, raising thousands of dollars in 2003, 2004 and 2005 for the upkeep of the historic lighthouse located at the end of Long Beach in the Orient Point State Park.
Throughout the years, Marilyn has won countless awards, nationally and internationally, and has exhibited in Florida as well as in many galleries in New York City and on eastern Long Island.
