Peter E. McGuggart has spent over 30 years in graphic design, working in the advertising industry. He was Senior Vice President, Creative Director, for Saatchi & Saatchi, Inc. He is a graduate of Parsons School of Design and a resident of Manhasset, L.I. His work has been exhibited locally and in private collections.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
My aim is to capture the modest beauty of the low-lying fields and wetlands of Long Island. While my color pencil drawings may give the illusion of detail, each composition is about an impression or feeling, rather than a documentation of a particular place. Capturing the nuances of light, atmosphere and color, I hope to translate to the viewer the quiet eloquence of these places. My aesthetics are from the American impressionist and tonalist traditions.
