Plein Air Painting in watercolor with the artist and instructor Naomi Campbell This two day outdoor workshop is designed for both professional and beginner, using the traditions of watercolor paint within a contemporary context. Landscape and seascape painting continues to be a central part of the history of art in this century, engaging the viewer from multiple points of view today. While painting en plein air, students will experience strong explorations of the unique abilities of watercolor while applying several principles that include: perspective, value, color sensitivities, line, form and especially composition to make a powerful statement. These will be examined from several fronts while focusing on each student’s unique strengths. July 16-17 9am – 4pm $200 Naomi Campbell has painted in watercolor for more than twenty-eight years. She is a graduate of Champlain College, Quebec, Canada, classically trained in painting, drawing and printmaking at the Art Students League of New York and has studied with many nationally recognized watercolor artists. Her signature memberships include the National Watercolor Society and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. Ms. Campbell has won several awards for her work both in watercolor and other media including four Gold Medals of Honor. Her figurative work has been featured in many art magazines and book publications in multiple media including Watercolor Magic and Pure Color, the Best of Pastel. She has exhibited nationally and internationally including in France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan and Korea. Her work is in international, national, public, corporate and private collections including the New York Public Library, Maimonides Hospital and Swift Pan-Americas all in New York. Her work is in the permanent collections of the City of New York; the City of Irving, Texas; the City of Geochang, Korea; the Art Students League of New York and the Trenton City Museum, New Jersey. She has contributed to art journals and has lectured at several schools and art organizations including Lehman College, City University of New York.
